We
are looking to compile a section of a future issue (3.2) devoted to
Italian poetry in translation. We're thrilled to consider poetry of
all eras, forms, modes, and tonalities, though the usual Unsplendid
stipulation applies: the original text should be a received or nonce
form. The translation need not be faithful to every element of that
original (e.g. a translation need not be rhymed, even if the original
is). Please submit up to five translations with the original Italian
poems included no later than September 30, 2010. See our guidelines
for questions about where and how to send the materials. Where applicable
please indicate if you have secured permission to publish the translations,
or if instead the poems are in the public domain. We are also open to essays, long and short, on Italian poetry (please query in advance).
